KLM (KL) Royal Dutch Airlines |
|
| |
KLM (KL) Royal Dutch Airlines is a worldwide airline company based in the Netherlands. It comprises the core of the KLM Group, which further includes KLM Cityhopper, transavia.com and Martinair. KLM works very closely with Air France within the AIR FRANCE KLM Group, which exists since the two companies merged in 2004. The AIR FRANCE KLM Group is Europe’s leading group in the airline business. KLM and Air France each operate their own networks within a Dual-Hub Strategy. The two hubs are Air France’s home base, Paris Charles de Gaulle and KLM’s home base, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Together with its partners, KLM offers passengers and cargo shippers more than 250 destinations, whether none stop connections or links to secondary destinations. Both KLM and Air France are members of SkyTeam, one of the global airline alliances. With ten member airlines as of 2009, SkyTeam is the world’s second-largest alliance in terms of market share. As SkyTeam members, Air France and KLM play an important role in North America, Europe, and Asia. And together with Kenya Airways, they enjoy a strong position in Africa as well. |

Earn Miles |
|
| |
For most miles flown with KLM, Air France, Kenya Airways, Air Europa or any other member of SkyTeam, you are rewarded with one Award Mile and one Level Mile. If you choose to fly with one of the other airline partners, most miles flown are rewarded with one Award Mile. The total number of Miles credited to your account depends on the distance of your flight and the class you travel in. There is a minimum of 500 Award and Level Miles on most tickets for domestic flights. On most tickets for international flights, there is a minimum of 750 Award and Level Miles offered. Award tickets, Air Miles tickets and other similar tickets are not eligible for Miles. Tickets in some classes may earn fewer or no Miles.
You can earn two kinds of Miles: Award Miles and Level Miles. Award Miles add up to great offers: from Award tickets to hotel and car rental packages. Miles remain valid as long as you make a minimum of only one eligible flight every 3 years with KLM, Air France or any other member of the SkyTeam alliance. Level Miles take you to a higher level in Flying Blue’s membership: from Ivory to Silver, Gold or Platinum. Every year Level Miles are put back to zero in the level check at December 31st. |
